We carry out qualitative and quantitative field based and digital research and publication. We also run multimedia awareness raising campaigns on feminist issues.
We conduct trainings and workshops for NGO professionals, students and youth, panchayat women, and other stake holders
We use legal mechanism such as public interest litigation, right to information and free legal counselling for feminist causes
Gender based division of space as public and private, with women being pushed to the “home” and prioritizing “family” is one of the biggest factor behind women’s inequality and gender-based violence. Women must have equal access not just in the physical public spaces but the public sphere, the public imagination of the nation, political discussions, and digital public sphere such as the internet.
Women must rise about familial roles of mother, daughter, sister etc and become a self-conscious individual and full citizenship. They must have the means, capacity, and the consciousness to prioritize her individualistic rights guaranteed by the Constitution as well as international covenants such as CEDAW before the community driven religious, customary and traditional roles and duties. Only then can women gain true equality and the nation can truly progress.
Constitution is the source of all our rights. These rights are owed to us by the State on account of being citizens. However, women, in any society, are often not treated as full citizens and their Constitutional rights remain unrealized. We believe every Indian woman deserve to learn about and utilize their constitutional rights to the fullest potential along with the rights arising out of UDHR and CEDAW. We believe women’s rights and dignity be based on Constitutional and liberal values.
The Feminist Alliance Trust was created with a motive to work towards creating a just and equitable society by ensuring that every woman and non-binary third gender individuals, across class, caste, religion and other intersectional identities, their rights and dignity, uplifting the Constitutional values and strengthening liberal democracy, where all women, men and trans-people have equitable access to the public sphere and the nation’s political consciousness, justice, individual rights and full citizenship.
We believe that feminism is for all and women’s issues is everybody’s issues. If feminism got a bad name it is not the movement’s fault but of those who misused the term. We also believe patriarchal structures, systems and the associated gender-norms impact all individuals including men. Therefore feminism and equal rights activism by women also benefits men.
