Feminist Alliance Trust (NGO) is proud to announce that we are offering free legal aid and counselling for women from all walks of life across India, and for women based out of Delhi NCR Area, we are also offering pro-bono (free of cost) lawyers services in case they wish to pursue formal litigation in appropriate court of law.
It doesn’t matter whether you are rich or poor, working or stay-at-home, educated or not—our legal counselling is completely free.
We are specifically asking women from middle class or upper middle class background to reach out to us with their legal queries related to domestic violence, whether at their matrimonial or parental home, property, inheritance, child custody, jos and education, work place harassment issues or any other query. Do not hesitate from seeking help. Do not think that free legal aid is only for poor and destitute women.
It is a common misconception that educated, working women from middle or upper class are by default empowered and know all about their rights. In our work, we have come across women who were doctors, engineers and even journalists, who did not even know something as basic as the four types of Orders a women can get under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005.
Many women may know about the DV Act by its name but they do not really know what it entails, which kind of facilities it provides and so on. Then there are laws related to their workplace and not just the Sexual Harassment Laws but related to salary, maternity benefits etc. The legal issues related to your parental properties, ancestral property, inheritance, such as how is property divided when parents die without a Will, what are your options if your parents are not willing to give you any share in the property and is biased towards their son, what are your options if the in-laws are not willing to give a share in deceased husband’s property and so on.
We are here to fill the knowledge gap. We will also support you with drafting and filing any police complaints, applications or petitions and if you intend to take matters formally to the Court, we have pro-bono lawyers for the Trial and Family Courts of Delhi and Gurgaon.
So just reach out.
